The Tested (feature)
A year ago while on duty as a plain clothes cop, JULIAN VARONE gunned down
an unarmed teen. In that time DARRAYLYNN WARREN, the teen's mother, has spiraled
into a pit of despair, while his brother, DRE, has gone another route... ganglife.
As for Julian, it's time for him to get back to work. "The Tested" tells
the story of how three lives are affected by a terrible tragedy, and how they
cannot find closure without the other.
PAST PROJECTS
The Tested (short)
A black teen struggles with schoolwork in a hostile environment,
and his homelife which is equally disturbing. During the days
before his gang initiation he attempts to make peace with his
negligent mother, console his younger sister, and accept what
he's about to do - shoot a stranger in broad daylight.
jeffrey (short)
"
jeffrey" is a genre-busting film that deals with the
paralyzing morning routine of someone with Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder.
As he does every weekday morning, Jeffrey awakens to get
ready for work in a peculiar and calculated way. Everything
he does
leads up to him leaving on the moment of an exact new hour.
As his routine gets interrupted time and again what first
seems amusing, suddenly reveals the sad darkness that lies
in the
troubled mind of Jeffrey.
The Wedding Bout (short)
A marriage in twelve rounds about a Jewish bride, an Italian
groom and their not so compatible families on their wedding
day. When things get out of hand, the scene transforms into
an actual boxing match as a fight to the finish ensues - leaving
the ultimate prize, or knockout - marriage.
IN DEVELOPMENT
The Strange Effect as Everett Singer (drama)
After losing faith in himself, Everett Singer abandons Harvard
Medical School and the love of his life only to become a funeral
plot salesman with an unexplainable gift that changes the destiny
of one small New England town.
Erroneous Lives (drama)
Explores how three generations of men learn to understand each
other without the resentment of history getting in the way.
The film deals with redemption, guilt, loneliness, love, and
understanding.
Hometurning (docu-drama)
From the sandy beach of Massachusetts' north shore it is not
possible for Martin Standing to see where the mortar landed
in the mountains of northern Iraq. The earth curves too much.
He can't see the damage he has caused even if he squints into
the clouds over the Atlantic looking for the reflected image
off their smooth surface. He cannot fathom how merely arranging
an interview between a local warlord and the BCC led to the
deaths of twelve people waiting in a breadline at a UN refugee
camp, or how one girl — the one who stood alone, bouncing
on the balls of her feet, her arms wrapped around herself — could
look so like his ex-girlfriend who died under the wheels of
a London cab because of his poorly chosen words. And yet, from
here, it is easy to imagine. Because only twenty years ago,
his father said the same thing to his mother, which made it
all happen.
Hometurning is an intimate, inter-family drama set against
the global crisis of modern warfare and its impatient media
coverage.
Becoming Human (dramadey)
A gritty romantic comedy about five men and women in their
twenties who must cope with the pressures of success, love,
and all the compromises in between.
Crashers (comedy)
An aspiring filmmaker takes to party-crashing in order to break
into an industry that has put up every barrier to keep him
out.
For That's Not All (comedy)
Two brothers put their skills as world class speed cyclists
to use in a far different manner... bank robbers.
Gus (crime)
A genre-crushing discection of one man trying to cleanse the
internet through online vigilantism, while battling his own
fragmented mind.
